Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to visit the abandoned Steelhouse Lane Lock Up, a Victorian prison in Birmingham, which was opened in 1892 and has been in disuse for several years. The Peaky Blinders were amongst the cells' inmates once held there.
This unique visit was organised for two small groups of instagramers by Birmingham's Hidden Spaces in conjunction with IGers Birmingham, ahead of other three events which will allow the public to learn more about the Grade II listed building and Victorian policing methods. All the events are taking place thanks to the collaboration between Hidden Spaces and West Midlands Police.
The series of images below focuses mainly on the Victorian features of the building.
